The Beginning

Last Sunday night, I had this hair brained idea to send a message around the world to myself. First I thought it might be a 6degrees sort of thing. How fast could I send the letter to myself? I would start out sending a letter to a friend who sends East to another friend and so on until it gets back to me.

The idea lacked something.

Community.

Why bother with an experiment on speed? I, personally, would be more interested in getting to know about the people the letter was visiting. I thought it would be great if everyone would write a little bit about themselves and the moment that they are in.

Problem, by the third person, the letter would get heavy and expensive to send on. How to do it? How to... Hmmmm.

Most of you would have skipped the problem solving stage altogether and gone straight to my solution. The medium being new to me, it took me an hour to get there -Blogging.

Last Monday I contacted person #1 for letter #1 - Katie in Portland, she is interested and has offered to help me set up the blogs. I got this far on my own, just to see if I could, soon I am going to ask Katie for help, I'd like to do a slide show of pictures of folks as they email them in.

The Letter is written, I am going to Papyrus to pick out a lovely bit of paper to handwrite the letter on to. Hopefully they will have a luscious piece of parchment or actual papyrus, wouldn't that be cool.

After Letter #1 is sent, I will begin to send the others off. 4 Letters, one world - how big is it?
